Housekeeping - Head Housekeeper

Head Housekeeper – London Orpington (Premier Inn) Location: London, BR6 0TW Contract: Permanent Hours: 35 per week Pay: Up to £13.86 per hour

We’re scouting for someone passionate about homely standards, consistent quality and exceptional customer service. As Head Housekeeper, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the team that ensures guests have a comfortable and stress-free stay. Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead by example: Direct and inspire the Housekeeping team, driving them to achieve high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Process management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth work schedules, consistent internal processes, and a welcoming standard for guests.
  • Guest experience: Work to ensure each guest leaves with a positive impression—they come back to Premier Inn and recommend it explicitly.
  • Team enablement: Foster a supportive and motivating work environment for your team, helping the housekeeping department excel.
  • Operational excellence: Monitor inventory, stock levels, and supplier partnerships to keep our standards high without overspending.
  • Quality assurance: Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure they meet cleaning and hygiene standards before rooms are released or cleaned.
  • Health and safety: Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and health regulations within the department.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek ways to enhance the team’s efficiency and quality standards, using Whitbread’s tools and systems to help you through the day and grow.

Experience & Preferences

  • Extensive Housekeeping or hospitality experience, ideally at management level.
  • Proven track record of leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and logistical skills, with the ability to plan for complex cleaning operations.
  • Today’s guest needs must be understood: emphasising return visits, comfort and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Whitbread’s tools and management methods will be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to cover various shifts, including weekends and evenings—early hours are sometimes necessary.
