Position: Porter

Department: Housekeeping

Reporting to: Housekeeping Supervisor, Assistant Housekeeping Manager, and Housekeeping Manager.

What Will I Be Doing?

As a Porter, you will play an essential role within our Housekeeping team, ensuring the efficient collection, transportation, and storage of hotel linen while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness throughout guest and back-of-house areas. You will support the Room Attendants with daily operational tasks and contribute to delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring the housekeeping operation runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, transport, count, and store clean and soiled linen accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete daily linen counts and report any discrepancies promptly.
  • Keep all linen rooms, cupboards, and storage areas clean, organised, and well stocked.
  • Remove soiled linen and rubbish from guest corridors throughout the day, ensuring all corridors remain clean and unobstructed.
  • Clean guest and staff areas, including emptying waste bins, vacuuming carpets, and ensuring floors remain free from linen and debris.
  • Assist Room Attendants with housekeeping duties, including high-level dusting of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Assist with turning and lifting mattresses safely when required.
  • Carry out carpet and upholstery shampooing as required.
  • Assist with housekeeping deliveries, transporting supplies, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly and accurately to the relevant department.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, manual handling practices, and hotel standards at all times.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Previous housekeeping experience, ideally within a luxury 4 or 5-star hotel.
  • A professional and confident manner when interacting with high-profile guests.
  • Excellent communication skills with a good command of spoken and written English.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude with a willingness to support the wider Housekeeping team.
  • Good personal presentation and high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays as required.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
