Housekeeping Team Member
The award-winning National Space Centre is a unique visitor attraction and education facility. We are looking to recruit talented individuals to join our Housekeeping team to maintain the highest possible standards in health, hygiene and cleanliness and customer service at the National Space Centre.
An experienced cleaner is required to join our busy Housekeeping Team to help maintain the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene that we require.
Applicants should have excellent customer service and communication skills, to work face-to-face with members of the public. You should have a flexible, adaptable and willing attitude towards work. The ability to work within a team is essential, as is a smart appearance and friendly personality.
Full-Time – 37.5 hours per week. 7-day rota including flexibility of times – evenings and regular weekend work.
Please note that this role is permanent (subject to successful completion of probationary period) and not suitable for temporary or holiday only working.
Rate of pay is £13.24 per hour.

Overall Purpose
To maintain the highest possible standards in health, hygiene and cleanliness and customer service at the National Space Centre.
General Duties
- To be an integral part of the team that maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of the Space Centre and offices, by adhering to the housekeeping schedule of tasks.
- To maintain high standards of housekeeping when the centre is open.
- To complete all housekeeping duties in line with health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
- To maintain the highest standards of customer care and customer service and be approachable and courteous at all times.
- To work as an integral member of the Space Crew team and undertake tasks as and when requested to ensure a high standard of service delivery to visitors to the Space Centre.
- To supervise the operations of Boosters café dining area and the John Eggleston Suite lunch area.
- To assist with corporate and special event set-up.
- To undertake any other tasks commensurate with the post, as directed by the Building Services Manager or member of the management team.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with guests and team members
- Highly organised
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper usage and safety procedures
- Work efficiently unsupervised
- Ability to manage time efficiently
- Ability to adhere to strict hygiene and cleanliness standards as set out by management
Working with Children
The successful individual will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Disclosure.
