About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Housing Enforcement Officer to join our successful Housing Enforcement Team, playing a critical role in shaping not just current processes but also the introduction of the Renters' Rights Act 2025.
Our team drives results in enforcing private rented-sector compliance, addressing unsafe and unlicensed properties, and tackling criminal, rogue, and irresponsible behaviours.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Undertake Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections to identify:
- Housing disrepair
- Non-compliance with local and statutory requirements
- Breaches of management standards
- Conduct proactive enforcement, from assessment to potential cases at First Tier Tribunal or Magistrates’ Court.
- Work hybrid, with 2 days in the office and 3 days across West Northants.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

About You
To excel in this role, you must demonstrate:
Essential Criteria
- A relevant degree or significant experience in private sector housing enforcement regulation.
- Certificate of competency in applying the HHSRS regime.
- In-depth knowledge of the:
- Housing Act 2004, HHSRS, and local authority powers for HMOs and private sector housing conditions.
- Renters' Rights Act 2025 implementation.
- Substantial experience preparing enforcement cases up to Hearing/First Tier Tribunal or Magistrates’ Court.

- Commitment to an evidence-based, ethical approach to enforcement.
