Housing Income Officer
Income Management Officer (Permanent, Full-time)
Role: Experienced Income Specialist – Permanent, Full-time
Workstyle: Roaming – homeworking, office-based, and customer home visits Operational Base: Gloucestershire Closing Date: Thursday, 16 July 2026 (note: may close earlier based on application volume)
About the Role

Bromford seeks someone who excels in income recovery, tenancy sustainment, and guiding customers through financially challenging situations. Confidence in housing law, benefits claim processes, and court procedures is essential—alongside a passion for enabling people to thrive in secure housing.
Responsibilities
- Manage a dedicated portfolio of customer accounts, prioritising early intervention and sustainable outcomes
- Provide personalised advice on:
- Benefit optimisation
- Budgeting strategies
- Income maximisation
- Proactively address rent arrears to meet performance targets
- Represent cases confidently in court, with expert legal documentation and process knowledge
- Leverage data and insights to refine approaches and improve outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (housing, support, external agencies)
- Deliver empathetic yet professional support to vulnerable customers, even during complex situations

Key Requirements
Professional Experience & Skills
- Proven expertise in income recovery or tenancy sustainment within social housing
- Strong communicator, balancing autonomy, problem-solving, and customer-centred fairness
- Decisive yet empathetic approach to challenging conversations
- Ability to work self-directed in a fast-paced, mobile role
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Welfare benefits and eligibility criteria
- Housing legislation
- Court procedures
- Proficiency with:
- Housing management systems
- Microsoft Office tools
- Data accuracy and analysis
Legal & Practical Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (essential due to roaming work)
- Ability to undergo an enhanced DBS check
