Housing Manager
Housing Manager – Income & Arrears Specialist Salary: £32,000 to £38,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience). Location: Hybrid (Watford, St Albans, Rickmansworth) Role Type: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week)
About the Role
A specialist Housing Manager will focus exclusively on income and arrears recovery, helping customers maintain their homes while safeguarding the business’s investment.
- Hybrid working model with 1-2 days per week visiting customers in the community for arrears checks and court duties.
- A specialised role without estate inspections or anti-social behaviour management.
- Home-based, with a flexible approach tailored to your working style.
What You’ll Do
- Proactively manage rent accounts to reduce arrears and prevent bad debt.
- Agree realistic repayment plans balancing customer needs and business objectives.
- Support customers to maximise income via benefits and financial assistance.
- Progress towards meeting defined revenue targets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risk using data-driven insights.
- Represent the organisation in court and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Need

Proven experience in rent account management, arrears recovery, or income recovery.

Strong negotiation skills, combining empathy with decisive decision-making.

Knowledge of welfare benefits or income maximisation tools (experience preferred).

Self-motivated organisation with the ability to manage workload independently.

Customer-first mindset—balancing support with firm yet fair outcomes.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (business use).
Additional Workplace Support

How You’ll Work
- Diary Administration: Weekly accountability with monitoring against income targets.
- Location: Primarily home-based, 2–3 geographical patches, with 1–2 business days each week on the road.
- Vehicle Requirement: Must contribute a vehicle insured for business mileage, remunerated at Home Group mileage rates.
- DBS Check: An enhanced DBS voucher will be issued (cost covered by Home Group).
