About the Role
This role involves:
- Managing leasehold and Right to Buy services
- Leading and supporting an accounts team focused on maintaining financial data, service charges, tenancy agreements, garages and leaseholds within the housing management system
- Managing amendments to tenancies, housing rent accounts, and the movement of monetary funds across accounts
- Delivering strategic service improvements that enhance value for money while meeting both internal and external customer expectations
Responsibilities
As the Accounts Housing Manager, you will take the lead in coordinating a specialist team, ensuring full compliance with regulations for leaseholders, all related legislation, guidance and contractual obligations across council properties. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the operational lead for leasehold and Right to Buy services, ensuring strict adherence to statutory obligations and best practices
- Assisting with the recharge system, verifying accuracy of recharges and ensuring efficient and fair payment recovery processes
- Planning and overseeing of team resources
- Monitoring and maintaining high service quality and operational standards

Key Requirements
We’re looking for an individual with the following expertise and attributes:
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and ability to resolve conflicts effectively
- Capability to engage positively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong commitment to social housing and excellent customer service skills
- In-depth knowledge and experience in housing management, tenant service charges, and tenancy processes
- Extensive familiarity with Right to Buy and section 20 consultations
- Clear numeracy skills and confidence in using formulas, along with meticulous approach to processing financial information
- Proactive problem-solving mindset
- Sound judgement under pressure
- Exceptional leadership and management ability
- Solid teamwork and collaborative working skills
- Technical expertise in Microsoft Excel and housing management software
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence or ability to travel between sites as required
- Fluency in English (aligned with Part 7 of the Immigration Act, as a requirement for customer-facing roles)
Travel across the borough is a core requirement, and access to a vehicle may be required for sessions and events.
The team operates on a hybrid working model (2-3 days in office per week).
