Housing Manager

Housing Manager | Income and Arrears Specialist

Salary: £32,000 to £38,000 per annum – dependant on skills and experience. Plus:

  • 34 days leave (rising to 39)
  • Health cash plan saving £1,140/year for you and your children

Role Type:

  • Permanent, full time (37.5 hrs per week)
  • Hybrid: Based between Oxfordshire and High Wycombe
  • Council taxpayer sponsorship is not available for this role.

About the Role

This is the ideal opportunity for an experienced Housing Manager with a swelling niche: you will focus exclusively on income and arrears recovery, supporting customers to stay in their homes while safeguarding reinvestment funds.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • No estate inspections or anti-social behaviour tasks.
  • 1–2 days per week based outside for arrears visits and court appearances.
  • Independent working to manage accounts and mitigating risk using data.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively manage rent accounts to reduce arrears and prevent bad debt.
  • Agree realistic repayment plans balancing customer needs with business objectives.
  • Support customers to maximise income through benefits and financial assistance.
  • Achieve defined targets.
  • Identify and mitigate risks before escalation using data-driven insights.
  • Represent the organisation at court and collaborate closely with internal teams.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in rent account/arrears/income recovery management.
  • Strong ability to negotiate repayment plans with empathy and clear communication.
  • Expertise in welfare benefits or income maximisation (or equivalent experience).
  • Self-driven and highly organised, with the ability to work independently.
  • Customer-centric mindset with firm decision-making skills balancing support with fairness.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for commutes.

Practical Details

  • Manage your own diary (Mon-Fri flexible working).
  • Cover 2–3 local patches, mostly home-based with 1–2 days per week on the road.
  • Business-mileage reimbursed.
  • Your Enhanced DBS check will be paid for by Home Group.
