Housing Officer

Director of Housing Management (Level 8) – Procurement Roles

Directorate: Housing, Regeneration and Operations Section: Housing Management Location: City-wide Salary: £33,699 – £36,363 per annum Hours: 37 per week Status: Open to internal and external applicants

The Role

As the Director of Housing Management, you will oversee efficient, compliant, and responsive housing services within assigned areas, aligning with council priorities and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tenancy Management: Handle tenancies (assignment, renewals, terminations) in line with strategic objectives.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Management: Coordinate interventions and responses to protect tenants’ safety.
  • Estate & Asset Management: Ensure conditions and services meet standards, driving continuous improvement.
  • Tenant Engagement: Foster participation and consultation to enhance service delivery.
  • Arrears Recovery & Revenue Optimisation: Reduce rent defaults and maximise income for council services.

About You

Below are the essential criteria for consideration:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 2 certification in Maths and English.
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent professional/housing work experience).
  • Proven expertise in social housing management, including tenancy operations and tenant support.
  • Practical experience in customer interviews, site visits, and problem-solving.

Person-Specific Abilities

  • Ability to manage emotionally charged situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Self-motivated and initiative-driven, with autonomy to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to advise stakeholders and build trust.
