How you'll make a difference

The HomeChoice service provides a high quality, comprehensive housing access service for households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Good housing can help to stabilise communities, reduce inequalities, improve safety and help reduce crime. As a member of the HomeChoice Team, you will play a key role by helping to administer the council’s housing register for people who wish to move to social housing.

What you will be doing

It will be your responsibly to maintain the housing register by processing and assessing all new applications, dealing with enquiries about the register and bidding process, and ensuring applicants are aware of their options. You will support customers by assisting them to access services, ensuring that clear and accurate information and guidance is provided. It will be key for you to identify where a household has special circumstances, making appropriate referrals to gain access to relevant specialist advice and support services. Maintaining and updating information systems and databases, you will ensure customer information is completed accurately.

What we need from you

It is essential you have relevant housing experience. You will have knowledge of relevant processes and procedures and an understanding of relevant regulations and codes of practice. Given the elements of this role, it is essential you can communicate effectively and engage with customers. Ideally, you will have some knowledge of housing options and advice, an understanding of housing remedies and the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups.

All applications will be initially reviewed and if you are shortlisted, you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment. If you are successful through this stage, you will be invited to an interview. This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Kingswood and working from home. Interviews will be take place week commencing 19th February 2026.
