Housing Stability Coach
Housing Stability Coach – Likewise
Location
Base location: Portland House, Sheffield S3 8UG
- Role will be predominantly outreach-based
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential
Working Hours
- 37 hours per week
- Standard hours: 9am–5pm (with flexibility required for out-of-hours work as needed)
Contract Type
- Permanent
Salary Range
- £25,877.80 – £34,240 per annum
- Please note: Salary reflects full earning potential. Starting salary varies based on experience and progression within the band.

You will work alongside Housing Stability Workers, offering peer-led support to individuals during critical transition periods, such as:
- Prison release
- Discharge from recovery housing and residential rehabilitation
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusting, credible relationships using your lived experience
- Provide emotional and practical support during high-risk transitions
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating recovery and stability
- Support individuals transitioning from:
- Prison
- Treatment services
- Recovery supported housing
- Residential rehabilitation programmes
- Help tenants settle into new accommodations, including:
- Establishing routines
- Accessing local services
- Offer early-warning tenancy support to prevent breakdown
- Guide individuals in understanding and fulfilling tenancy responsibilities
- Recognise and address risks (e.g., relapse, disengagement, arrears)
- Collaborate with housing teams on relapse-informed housing plans
- Encourage engagement with drug and alcohol treatment/recovery services
- Teach coping strategies and relapse prevention techniques
- Promote wellbeing, independence, and community integration
- Partner with services including:
- Housing teams
- Probation services
- Health and social care
- Advocate for clients to ensure access to vital services
- Contribute to:
- Joint support planning
- Case reviews
- Maintain clear professional boundaries
- Respond to safeguarding concerns
- Share risk-related information with the team
- Uphold Waythrough’s policies and procedures
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of all engagement

About You
We welcome applicants who bring:
- Lived experience of:
- Substance use,
- Recovery, or
- Homelessness with a sustained period of stability
- Demonstrated experience working with:
- Treatment services
- Housing support
- Mental health resources
- Experience volunteering, mentoring, or advocating (formal or informal)
- Deep understanding of challenges in:
- Substance use
- Recovery journeys
- Homelessness
- Strong ability to:
- Build trust,
- Engage with disengaged individuals
- Motivate clients to drive positive change
- Reliability and consistency in scheduling and support
- Commitment to personal development and ongoing recovery
- ability to manage boundaries professionally
