Job Description
Salary £28,142 - £32,061 Per annum | Permanent | Full Time - 37 hours per week
International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship
Housing Support Officer (Grade 6) | Education – School Place Planning | Location: County Hall / Hybrid
About The Role
We are seeking an organised and analytical individual to join the School Place Planning Team at Lancashire County Council.
This role supports the coordination of education responses to housing development across Lancashire. Working alongside the School Place Planning Housing Principal, you will help assess planning applications, monitor housing growth, and ensure appropriate contributions are secured to mitigate the impact on school places.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build experience in planning, data analysis, and infrastructure coordination within a supportive local authority environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor planning portals and respond to housing applications
- Assess the impact of developments on school place demand
- Support securing and tracking Section 106 contributions
- Maintain accurate records of contributions, triggers, and clawback dates
- Analyse data to inform planning and decision-making
- Contribute to statutory returns such as the Infrastructure Funding Statement
- Support preparation of planning responses and service reports
- Build effective working relationships with district officers, developers, and stakeholders

About You
You will have:
- Experience in administration, planning, or working with data
- Strong organisational, analytical, and IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders
- Awareness of planning or education frameworks (desirable)
A relevant qualification or equivalent experience is required.
