Housing Support Officer
Help young people build the foundations for independent living.
We're launching a brand-new supported accommodation service in Maidenhead, providing a safe and welcoming home for up to 20 care leavers as they transition towards independent adulthood.
Opening in October 2026, this newly refurbished accommodation will provide high-quality support in a trauma-informed environment, helping young people develop the confidence and life skills they need for the future.
We're looking for several Housing Support Officers to join this exciting new team and play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive and well-managed home from day one.
What you'll be doing
No two days will be the same. You'll play a key part in both the smooth running of the building and the day-to-day support of the young people living there.
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of our supported accommodation, ensuring it remains safe, welcoming and well maintained.
- Building positive relationships with young people and providing practical support to help them develop independence.
- Conducting resident inductions and supporting young people with house rules, routines and tenancy responsibilities.
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and managing challenging behaviour where required.
- Reporting repairs, liaising with contractors and overseeing maintenance work.
- Carrying out basic maintenance, decorating and helping prepare rooms for new residents.
- Managing household supplies, guest access and the general upkeep of the property.
- Supporting residents with rent payments, benefits and other practical aspects of independent living.
- Maintaining accurate records, petty cash and other financial documentation.

About you
- Experience working with vulnerable young people, ideally within housing, supported accommodation or social care.
- Confidence managing behaviour, promoting positive relationships and responding to safeguarding concerns.
- Experience helping to manage a large residential building, including coordinating contractors and reporting repairs.
- A hands-on approach with the ability to carry out basic maintenance, decorating and general property upkeep.
- Good organisational and administrative skills, with confidence using IT systems, including Google Workspace.
- Experience maintaining financial records, petty cash or supporting rent and benefit processes.
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
- GCSE-level education (or equivalent). A housing qualification is desirable but not essential.

Working pattern
This role is based at our new supported accommodation project in Maidenhead and operates on a flexible shift rota, including:
- Early shifts: 8:00am start
- Late shifts: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Flexibility to work these shifts is essential.
