Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour

Hours: Ad Hoc / Flexible Day Shifts (typically 8:00am – 4:00pm)

About The Role

Rotherwood Cares are currently recruiting experienced Housing Support Workers to join our team, supporting services in Blackburn on an ad hoc basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced support workers who are looking for flexible work while making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing complex challenges.

The service provides support to individuals with a range of needs, including mental health, complex needs, homelessness, and substance misuse issues. This can be a challenging environment, so we are looking for resilient, compassionate, and confident individuals who can remain calm under pressure and provide consistent support.

The Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to residents within a supported housing environment
  • Supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health challenges, and substance misuse issues
  • Building positive and professional relationships with service users
  • Encouraging independence and supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals
  • Completing daily records, support notes, and relevant documentation
  • Promoting safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment
  • Responding appropriately to challenging situations and behaviours
  • Working alongside colleagues and external agencies to provide effective support

About You

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working within supported housing, homelessness, mental health, or complex needs services
  • Have experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and multiple needs
  • Are confident working in a demanding environment
  • Have a strong, resilient, and patient approach
  • Can build rapport with individuals from a range of backgrounds
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Are reliable, flexible, and able to work independently

Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous housing support experience is required
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health, and/or substance misuse
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage difficult situations professionally
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
