How to find jobs, fill out an application form and be successful at an interview.

Primary page content

Our available jobs are listed on jobs.gold.ac.uk.

See advice on searching and using the listings.

Applying online

See the Job application guide for how to use our online application system.

We do not accept postal applications and invite applicants to apply for all vacancies online. If you have a disability that could make this difficult, please email hr-recruitment (@gold.ac.uk) to discuss alternative arrangements.

The closing time for submitting a job application is 2359 UK time. HR staff are only available to assist with queries from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. We recommend submitting your application at least an hour ahead of the deadline, in case of any technical issues.

Filling in the application form

Each role will have an accompanying job description and person specification. This serves as an indication of what we are looking for.

Each criterion specified will be listed as essential or desirable. We will shortlist candidates who demonstrate they meet the essential criteria and as many of the desirable criteria as possible using a points-based system.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Those who score the highest will be invited to interview, so it is important to provide clear evidence of how you meet each criterion.

Shortlisting

Once the deadline has passed, the recruiting manager and shortlisting panel will consider all submitted applications. These will be assessed on how closely they match the requirements of the job description.

The shortlisting process can take several days, depending on the number of applications that have been received. If you are selected, you will be invited to attend an interview.

If you have not received an invitation to interview within six weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.

Interview

If you are invited to interview, we will contact you via email as soon as possible after the shortlisting decision has been made. In this email, you'll be provided with full details about the interview, including its format, directions to the campus, and details of any formal assessment exercise such as a test or presentation.
