HR Advisor - Distribution & Finance Services (Fixed Term, 12 Months)

We are seeking an HR Advisor to join our team in Frating, Colchester, supporting our Distribution and Finance Services Division as a 12-month fixed-term contract.
About the Role
This role will report directly to the HR Business Partner and involve close collaboration with managers and employees across Distribution & Finance Services. Your goal is to become deeply acquainted with these business areas to deliver practical, thoughtful HR advice.
As a key first point of contact, you’ll engage in a wide range of HR duties:
- Supporting the full employee life cycle, including talent management, reward, and employee relations.
- Providing coaching and guidance on workplace topics like wellness.
- Assisting from onboarding new hires to career progression, family leave planning, and beyond.
- Supporting a team of over 400 employees in a proactive, fast-paced environment.
The core ambition of the role is to enhance both individual and collective success within the division.

Key Responsibilities
- Offer principal HR advisor support to managers across Distribution & Finance.
- Maintain awareness of HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
- Deliver training, coaching and guidance on competitor public relations.
- Perform analysis of HR metrics and recommend improvements.
- Handle absenteeism and disciplinary protocol where necessary.
- Partner with Learning & Development to support career progression.
- Maintain confidence in employee-employer relationships while promoting an engaging working environment.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience working as a generalist HR Advisor, specifically with managers.
- Exposure to sensitive HR areas such as displinary matters and grievances alongside absence management and parental leave.
- Sound understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
- Familiarity with union engagement.
- Ability to work proficiently with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems).
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across business functions.
- A proactive mindset, combined with a commitment to personal and professional growth.
Preferred Criteria
- CIPD Certification (this is considered a plus).

Key Benefits
- Salary: Approximately £35,000**, subject to negotiation based on skills and experience, inclusive of bonus and benefits.
- Hybrid Working Policy: 3 days per week from the Frating office with occasional travel to London (Embassy Gardens).
