HR Generalist – Generalist Position (Contract → Permanent Opportunity)
We’re seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our close-knit, visible People & Culture team in a well-established mining operation. Here, HR isn’t just admin—it’s business-critical, trusted by leaders, and deeply embedded in operations.
This time-limited contract role (initially 3 months), offers the possibility to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a high-impact operational environment and values loyalty—our team’s retention speaks for itself.

The Role: HR Generalist (Contract)
A hybrid operational/HR role, blending breadth with hands-on insight. You’ll handle everything from workplace investigations to end-to-end recruitment, while earning a deep understanding of mining HR—and the option to stay long-term.
Core Responsibilities include:
- Employee & Industrial Relations
- Managing disputes, workplace conflicts, and employee interactions.
- Acting decisively in investigations and interventions.
- Performance & Coaching Support
- Leading performance management conversations, mentoring staff, and fostering accountability.
- Full-Cycle Recruitment
- Supporting hiring from discovery to offer stage, aligning talent with operational needs.
- Employee Lifecycle & Engagement
- Onboarding, development, retention efforts, and exit support.
- Systems & Compliance
- Ensuring HR processes (leave, payroll, policy adherence) run seamlessly across systems.
- Cross-functional Leadership
- Partnering with ops teams, supervisors, and senior leaders to solve business challenges.

About You
We’re looking for a flat-footed HR practitioner—someone who’s comfortable juggling complexity and loves trading solutions in a real-world setting.
Your ideal profile includes:
- HR experience (2+ years as a HR Advisor/Generalist), preferably in operational or relationships-heavy roles.
- Industry Fit (preferred):
- Mining, resources, manufacturing, construction, or blue-collar environments.
- But transferable experience from complex organisations (aviation, logistics, etc.) will also be considered.
- Key Personal Traits:
- Ultimate team player—you collaborate but don’t shy from leading.
- Diplomatic but direct—you align people with decisions that drive results.
- Owner mentality—you take initiative and enjoy getting stuck in.
- Curious and career-driven—you want to learn, grow, and thrive in an industry you might not know yet.
- Comfortable with ambiguity—three months isn’t a timeline; it’s a chance to show what you bring.
