HR Advisor
Location: Head Office, Moorgate, London Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday Pay Rate: Starting at £30,000 per annum
About the Role
We're looking for a friendly, practical, and confident HR Advisor to join our close-knit HR team at Apricot. This varied, hands-on role involves supporting our warehouse, retail, field, and head office teams with day-to-day people-related queries, employee relations, HR administration, recruitment, payroll processes, and people projects.
You will serve as a trusted first point of contact for both managers and team members. Your expertise will ensure our HR systems, processes, and documentation run smoothly while delivering clear, pragmatic advice.

Key Responsibilities
HR Administration and Systems
- Respond to HR queries from across the organisation, escalating where additional support is needed
- Prepare and manage key employee documents, including:
- Contracts and contract changes
- Flexible working outcomes
- Disciplinary paperwork
- References
- Maternity paperwork
- Other employee lifecycle documents
- Maintain accuracy, security, and currency of our HR and payroll systems for:
- Recruitment requests
- New starters
- Pay updates
- Contract changes
- Leavers
- Support managers with people-related admin and ensure a smooth onboarding/offboarding experience
- Improve efficiency by identifying automation opportunities for HR processes

Employee Relations and Manager Support
- Act as the primary advisor for employee relations, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and flexible working requests
- Coach managers through formal HR processes (e.g., disciplinaries, grievances) and performance reviews
- Foster strong relationships with teams through proactive support and early issue resolution
- Stay updated on UK employment legislation and keep workplace policies current
Recruitment, Reporting, and Projects
- Support recruitment efforts through job postings, agency liaising, and collaboration with hiring managers
- Assist in interviews where required, exploring creative talent-sourcing methods
- Analyse people data to identify trends in sickness, recruitment, and turnover
- Gather insights from exit interviews, pulse surveys, and employee surveys, transforming feedback into actionable improvements
- Contribute to HR projects under the direction of the Head of HR, including policy updates and workflow improvements

Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Good experience in HR or people management, ideally within retail or fast-paced industries
- Practical and realistic approach to balancing best practices with business needs
- Confidence in handling employee relations processes and advising managers fairly
- Strong influencing, relationship-building, and relationship-collaboration skills with a constructive challenge mindset
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, written, and verbal communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (gaining expertise in Outlook, Word, and Excel required)
- Familiarity with CIPD qualification highly valued, though experience is equally important
