At Gear4music, we're not just passionate about music - we're passionate about people too. Our HR team is at the heart of making Gear4music a brilliant place to work, and right now, we're looking for a highly organised, approachable, and professional HR Advisor to join the team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing administration and organisational work with employee relations support. This role would fit someone who enjoys a varied job role, with a mixture of administration and casework responsibilities. You’ll also contribute to key initiatives and projects at different times of the year, including the implementation of a new HR system in 2026, making a real impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all first-level queries from across the business, including daily management of the HR Inbox, providing timely and professional responses.
- Deliver accurate and efficient HR administration, including processing starters, leavers, and employee changes. Issuing contracts, letters, and documentation, and ensuring all people data and records remain accurate and up to date.
- Ensuring all new starters have a fantastic welcome and onboarding experience to the Company, working with other departments such as Facilities and I.T. to ensure a smooth setup.
- Support with a wide range of Employee Relations casework including informal welfare matters, sickness absence management, probation reviews, maternity & paternity cases. Plus, more complex disciplinaries, grievances and investigations when they arise. At Gear4music we aim to deal with matters promptly and proactively, preferring informal options wherever possible whilst remaining legally compliant.
- Contribute to wider HR initiatives such as Annual Performance Reviews, management training programmes, organising and tracking of e-learning.
- Support the implementation and rollout of a new HR system in 2026, including data handling and process improvements.
- Provide support to the HR & Recruitment Manager, being flexible to adapt to wherever support may be required across the HR & Recruitment function.
- Provide support across both our Holgate HQ and Clifton Moor site, particularly during seasonal peak periods.
- Willing to provide remote HR support to international hubs as and when required – specifically Ireland. We have some excellent HR tools to support development in this field.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
