This HR Advisor position will report to the HR Operations Manager and will work within the Human Resources directorate based in our London, Elephant and Castle office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary depending on your experience and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

You will sit within the centre of excellence for the provision of professional guidance and support to line managers on the management of cases which arise from the application of people management policies and practice, (covering sickness absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance improvement, discrimination, bullying & harassment, redeployment and redundancy).
Main Interfaces
- Daily interfaces will be with managers who require support from the HR Operations team on people management procedures.
- You will work with Trade Union and employee representatives, HR Business Partners and Stakeholders (management and supervisory level).
- Other internal interfaces include HR Services, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Pensions, Legal and Occupational Health.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide advice, guidance, documentation and structured case management support to business managers.
- Ensure that all case management is recorded on the HR systems to support weekly management reporting.
- Manage all case work following HR policy and procedures, tracking progress observing defined timescales. Offering solutions to move cases to a conclusion.
- Provide advice to managers on aspects of employment law, terms and conditions, HR policy and procedures.
- Undertake project work and tasks as assigned by the HR Operations Manager, providing regular updates on progress and timelines.
- Support managers with resolving governance and audit findings.
- Check all employment change requests submitted by managers through My UKPN. You will raise any queries which will be discussed with the HR Operations Manager before approving.
- Responsible for monitoring and recording sickness absence management and poor performance within the business, coaching managers to progress their cases through all stages of the procedure.
- Support Managers with the management of long-term sickness with Occupational Health advice.
- Demonstrate positive customer service behaviours through the provision of a seamless HR Operational service to the business. Ensuring that cover is provided when colleagues are absent.
- Acknowledge and respond to all issues raised via phone, face to face and email promptly.
- Improve manager capability by identifying where local managers need coaching and support with HR procedures, delivering workshops or local coaching sessions and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Ensure SAP HR is updated and maintained.
- Contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures and participating on working groups when requested.
- For those trained, participate in job evaluation panels when requested.
- Manage relationships with Trade Union and employee representatives, to ensure case management processes.
- Maintain reporting systems and provide management information when requested, to ensure consistency of approach and outcome.
- Perform the welfare co-ordinator and/or call agent roles as advised during system emergencies.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Chartered Member of the CIPD or currently undertaking CIPD studies
- Experience managing a range of complex cases (disciplinaries, grievances, sickness absence management, performance, discrimination, bullying & harassment, redeployment and redundancy) and able to apply relevant techniques to situations gained from previous HR operational roles.
- Experience advising managers on application of complex terms and conditions
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of employment law and HR policy and best practice
- Project management skills
- Be able to build relationships and influence at all levels
- A track record in developing practical solutions to HR issues and effective delivery of projects and services
- A tenacious personality able to see problems through to the end.
- Self- motivated team player.
- Use SAP to compile and analyse reports.
- Communicate with a diverse client group.
- Produce succinct correspondence and reports.
- Ability to research, analyse and reason logically within tight deadlines.
- A commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Desirable
- Experience working within a framework of collective agreements
- Able to use all Microsoft 365 products, apps and services including Microsoft Excel
Job Dimensions
Although you will not be responsible for a budget the advice provided by the HR Advisors has an impact on business budgets and financial performance e.g. Risk of Employment Tribunals.
The HR Advisor is a professionally qualified practitioner supporting the business with their people related matters and must be able provide accurate and consistent advice to managers and staff. They need to ensure they can track progress of casework and record relevant details as required.
