The primary purpose of the role is to be a trusted advisor to HR and business stakeholders, providing high-quality advice and support across HR Advisory case management. The team works closely with a wide range of SME colleagues from the internal HR community to deliver a coordinated service to the business.

The HR Advisory T1 Advisor will play a key role in smooth running of the HR Advisory service within Enterprise Business Solutions. The role is focused on managing complex, higher-risk HR Advisory casework, where experienced judgement, strong employment law knowledge, commercial awareness and sensitivity are required. You will help ensure the right level of expertise is applied to each case, support fair and consistent outcomes for employees, and contribute to effective risk mitigation for the firm.

You will provide day-to-day HR advisory support to employees, people leaders and partners across Deloitte UK, acting as a trusted advisor on HR matters, with primary responsibility for T1 casework and for supporting U2 Senior Assistant casework where required. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing complex and higher-risk T1 HRA casework, including performance management cases at Director grade and below, performance dismissal appeals, complex exam fail cases, misconduct investigations, disciplinary matters, informal grievances, flexible working queries, complex ER queries and other cases with elevated legal, commercial or reputational risk.
  • Providing clear, pragmatic and commercially balanced advice to stakeholders, ensuring decisions are aligned to policy, process, employment law considerations and the firm’s approach to managing commercial risk.
  • Producing, reviewing and quality assuring case documentation to a high standard, including scripts, meeting notes, outcome letters, case reports, due diligence records and supporting materials.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records in ServiceNow, ensuring key fields are completed in line with guidance, quality standards and deadlines.
  • Complete all relevant case activities that may impact payroll outcomes, such as dismissal actions or withholding company sick pay, ensuring they are progressed accurately and in time for payroll deadlines, with all required stakeholders informed in line with procedural guidelines.
  • Engaging with relevant HR SME teams and stakeholders, including Employee Relations, OGC, Ethics, Occupational Health and other regulatory stakeholders where specialist input or oversight is required.
  • Managing escalations from U2 colleagues, Enterprise Business Solutions and the wider HR community, ensuring appropriate case ownership, stakeholder management, timely follow-up and escalation to T2 team leaders for the highest-risk matters.
  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting U2 colleagues through case guidance to build capability and support clear career development pathways.
  • Supporting continuous service improvement by acting as, or contributing to, Primary T1 Process Champion activity, maintaining SOPs and process flows, identifying process enhancements and helping embed consistent ways of working across HR Advisory.
  • Ensuring effective handover of cases where input or completion is required by the wider HR community, with clear ownership, next steps and risk considerations documented.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection, confidentiality, security, document management and operational hygiene requirements at all times.

  • Strong technical HR and employee relations experience, with the ability to manage complex, sensitive and high-risk casework from initial advice through to resolution, including formal processes, appeals, investigations and dismissal-risk scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk, complexity and strategic importance, exercise sound judgement and provide commercially balanced advice, escalating appropriately to people leader, HR SMEs or management where matters carry significant legal, regulatory or reputational exposure.
  • Confident stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly, challenge constructively and build trust with People Leaders, partners, HRBPs and colleagues across HR Services.
  • A proactive approach to case progression, data integrity and service delivery, including accurate ServiceNow record keeping, timely updates, completion of required process steps and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of coaching, upskilling or supporting colleagues, including providing peer review, helping others prepare for complex case activity and embedding consistent processes, guidance and ways of working across a team.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify process improvements, support documentation updates and contribute to practical changes that improve consistency, efficiency and customer experience.
  • A strong advocate for data integrity and compliance, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping of all employee relations matters within the case management tool (Service Now).
  • Other skills include:
    • A confident delivery of verbal and written communications with excellent attention to detail.
    • An ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Ability to influence through personal credibility.
    • Adaptable to change and ways of working.
    • Software skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and specific HR applications – of these, SAP and ServiceNow are preferable.
    • Industry knowledge: An experienced HR professional that has come from either a professional services environment or alternatively a fast-paced demanding ER role.
