Hr Advisor

HR Advisor | £35,000 - £40,000 doe | 12 month FTC (Maternity cover) | Full time | ASAP start 📍 Sheffield / Hybrid | Client Site Travel Required

Are you an HR professional ready to step into a more commercial, client-facing advisory role?

Our client is looking for a confident and proactive HR Advisor to join their HR advisory team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

This is not a traditional in-house HR role. You’ll manage your own portfolio of SME and mid-market clients, providing practical, commercially focused HR advice across a wide range of sectors , with the support of experienced consultants around you.

If you enjoy variety, problem-solving and building trusted client relationships, this could be the ideal next step in your HR career.

Role Overview:

  • Gain genuine client-facing HR advisory experience
  • Exposure to complex employee relations and employment law matters
  • Opportunity to develop consultancy style HR skills
  • Supportive, ambitious and fast-paced team environment
  • Real responsibility and ownership from day one
  • Meaningful role despite FTC (not “just maternity cover)
  • Hybrid working with flexibility and autonomy

The Role: As an HR Advisor, you’ll work closely with a portfolio of clients, supporting them with day-to-day HR and employment matters while helping ensure their documentation, processes and people practices remain compliant and commercially effective.

You’ll also support HR training initiatives, events and client engagement activity, making this a varied and highly visible role. No two days are the same ! One day you could be advising on an absence issue, the next reviewing contracts, attending a client meeting or supporting HR training delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
