HR & People Support Apprentice
Location:
Melton (near Hull, HU14 3HJ)
Salary:
National Minimum Wage (age dependent) + 30 days holiday + pension + staff discount across Heron Foods & B&M
If you're looking to start your career in Human Resources and gain valuable experience within a busy People team, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
As an HR & People Support Apprentice, you'll support our People team with a variety of administrative and employee-focused activities that help deliver a positive experience for colleagues across our stores, distribution centre and Store Support Centre. You'll gain hands-on experience in HR processes while working alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced retail environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop valuable administration, communication and organisational skills while earning a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

About The Role
You'll be part of our HR & People team, supporting colleagues and managers across the business with a range of people-related activities. Working alongside experienced HR professionals, you'll learn about the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding new starters to supporting colleague engagement initiatives, helping to ensure our people receive a positive and professional experience throughout their employment journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the administration of HR and People processes
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
- Responding to routine colleague and manager queries
- Supporting recruitment administration and interview coordination
- Assisting with the preparation of employment-related documentation
- Helping to coordinate training, development and colleague engagement activities
- Producing reports and maintaining people data records
- Supporting HR projects and people initiatives across the business
- Ensuring confidential information is handled appropriately and in line with company procedures
- Providing general administrative support to the HR & People team

What You'll Need
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems
- The ability to build positive working relationships
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- An interest in Human Resources, People Management or Business Administration
Qualifications
- Good standard of English and Maths
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (desirable but not essential)
