Join the team as a HR Apprentice
Our Employee Relations team is looking for a dynamic and bright individual on a fixed-term contract (12-18 months), paid at the National Apprenticeship wage of £8.00 per hour.
About the Role
As an HR Apprentice, you’ll support, deliver and report on core HR initiatives, fostering strong employee-stakeholder relationships. Your role will involve driving engagement opportunities, ensuring HR policy compliance, and contributing to annual objectives. You’ll act as the bridge between employees, management, and HR, leaving a positive impact from day one.

Employee Administration
- Ensure smooth HR operations for store-based employees—from issuing employment contracts and starter packs to handling contractual changes.
- Guarantee all HR paperwork is accurate, compliant and up to date.

HR System Support
- Update HR records for employees (personal details, employment history).
- Provide daily support for HR system functions, including payroll integration.

HR Inbox & Query Management
- Respond accurately and promptly to employee inquiries via the HR inbox.
- Categorise emails daily for further internal team action.

Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist in conducting internal audits.
- Help maintain alignment with employment laws, company policies, and best practices.

Employee Relations & Tracker Management
- Weekly updates for ER trackers, including maternity leave, sickness absence, and flexible working requests.
- Monitor data accuracy and completeness to inform management decisions.

- Prepare regular HR reports, such as:
- Weekly employee headcount
- Overdue probation reviews
- Employee turnover statistics
- Engagement survey results

- Manage all administrative tasks during employee departures (file paperwork and HR system updates).

Meeting Support
- Take accurate notes during Employee Relations meetings (investigations, disciplinaries, grievances).
- Maintain confidentiality and precision in documentation.

Reference Checks & Compliance
- Verify new starter right to work documentation.
- Conduct reference checks for store-based employees.

Employee Uniform Management
- Organise and track uniforms, ensuring timely distribution.
Requirements
Skills & Qualities
- Interest in Human Resources and people management.
- Strong analytical skills (data evaluation from sources such as Excel).
- Ability to communicate clearly across diverse teams.
- Creative, open-minded and eager to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly organised, with time management skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with adaptability to change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
