Role Objective

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HR Apprentice to join our friendly HR team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience across all areas of Human Resources while working towards a recognised HR qualification. Supported by experienced HR professionals, you'll develop valuable knowledge and skills in recruitment, employee administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations.

Responsibilities

As an HR Apprentice, you'll support the day-to-day activities of the HR team while developing your knowledge and experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative support across the HR function.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
  • Supporting recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates.
  • Assisting with onboarding by preparing contracts, offer letters, and new starter documentation.
  • Completing pre-employment checks, including Right to Work documentation.
  • Responding to employee and manager queries, escalating where appropriate.
  • Supporting probation and contractual change administration.
  • Assisting with absence management administration, maintaining accurate records, and preparing reports.
  • Producing regular HR reports and supporting data audits.
  • Helping to maintain training records and monitor mandatory training completion.
  • Providing administrative support for employee relations processes, including arranging meetings, preparing documentation, and taking notes where required.
  • Supporting HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately, professionally, and in line with company policies and employment legislation.

Person Specification

  • A genuine interest in developing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • A minimum of a National 5 at Grade C in English and Maths.

Apprenticeship

You'll be working towards completion of a Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration alongside your role, combining practical workplace experience with structured learning. Throughout the programme, you'll receive ongoing support, mentoring, and development while building the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in Human Resources.
