HR Assistant

Pay £26,300 per annum plus 34 days leave rising to 39 days and a career path with development

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw)

You’ll help keep our people processes running smoothly so our HR team can focus on supporting our managers and colleagues. Your work makes a real difference every day, from data collection and reporting to super administrative organisation that keeps everything on track. Many of our HR Advisors started in this role, so if you want a clear path into HR, this is your stepping stone.

What you’ll do

  • Keep absence trigger data reports accurate so managers can act quickly.
  • Track HR policy reviews and make sure documents stay up to date.
  • Arrange occupational health surveillance checks and process invoices on time.
  • Monitoring HR inboxes and responding to enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with HR reporting and audits.
  • Supporting wider people initiatives and projects.
  • Support wellbeing and diversity activities so events run smoothly.
  • Prepare agendas, take notes, and keep meetings organised and on track.

You have

  • Admin experience in HR or a busy business environment.
  • Ability to use spreadsheets to collate and present data accurately.
  • Experience in keeping records organised, accurate and following processes.
  • Able to organise schedules, track progress and work with confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay proactive, and spot errors early using your eye for detail.

The practical bits

  • We work on a hybrid basis, spending two days each week in our office at One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, and the remaining days working from home.
  • Our anchor days are Tuesday, and the second day is flexible to meet the needs of our stakeholders and you.
  • You’ll work Monday to Friday. Our core hours are 9.00 am to 5.30 pm with flexibility built in.
