The Counter Terrorism Policing https://www.counterterrorism.police.uk/ network stretches across the UK. We work alongside our partners to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

Our Business Services Department supports the operational delivery of CT policing across the wider West Midlands region through our Employee Resourcing, Facilities & Estates and Finance teams. We are based at our modern offices near to Birmingham Airport.

We are looking for a talented and innovative individual with detailed knowledge of reporting products and dashboard creation to fulfil an exciting opportunity as an HR & Business Analyst within the Business Services function of CTPWM (Counter Terrorism Policing) reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Services.

The role

You will be responsible for reporting and analysing data using information from a range of systems and external data sources, to provide value added analysis, insights and recommendations to key stakeholders within CTPWM, CTPHQ and our regional & national colleagues.

You will develop reports and dashboards in conjunction with Business Services (HR, Finance and Facilities & Estates) and wider CTPWM department and provide data and analysis to support change programme requirements.

You will also support in the creation of presentations and reports for key strategic meetings, presenting relevant data in a clear, concise and comprehensible way to a range of different stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Producing and analysing key monthly, quarterly and annual datasets & reports to meet objective and KPI requirements. Identifying trends opportunities and challenges along with relevant recommendations for problem solving.
  • Providing specialist people analysis to portfolio leads and other key stakeholders and ensure that analysis is understood in terms of opportunities and threats
  • Producing related data for statutory returns including CTPHQ, the Home Office, HMIC and other governing bodies, ensuring the Forces authorised establishment position is maintained.
  • Developing/engaging with professional networks within Policing, with relevant partners and external bodies, to enable benchmarking and development of best practice in data and reporting.
  • Contributing to the creation of system of governance, to deliver a clear and integrated approach to workforce planning and reporting across the department and Business Services.
  • Working with change programmes to provide and gather people related information to include with portfolio analysis.
  • Continually assessing the quality of data held on force systems and work with the business to ensure data remains accurate.
  • Monitoring all reporting to ensure it remains accurate, accessible and applicable.
  • Working with colleagues to develop and maintain a good understanding of the current Business and HR practices. Ensure that data analysis is maintained and up to date for Head of Services, CTPHQ and department and evaluate the effectiveness of the analysis to implement developments to improve the value.
  • Supporting with other ad hoc reporting request within Business Services such as budget and cost saving analysis.
  • Working on your own initiative with strategic oversight from Business Services Leadership.

Skills and competencies

Essential

  • Experience of developing dashboards with QLIK Sense and presenting data analysis.
  • Experience of undertaking research and benchmarking within tight timescales, to create analysis and recommendations to support and influence both strategic and tactical decisions
  • Experience of working with large, complex datasets.
  • Experience of using Excel to an advanced level.
  • Extensive experience of working with reporting tools e.g. Oracle e-business suite / Oracle Fusion

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a People based analytical role
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of workforce planning theory and application, legislation and policy.
  • SQL language skills / VBA coding
  • Experience of statistical modelling.
