HR Business Partner - Operational

East Lothian | Onsite | Permanent, Full Time

£45,000 - £50,000 + Benefits

Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational role and enjoys building strong relationships with managers to make a real difference? We're exclusively supporting an ambitious and growing organisation to appoint an HR Business Partner. This is a varied, generalist role where you'll have the autonomy to support managers across the full employee lifecycle, helping them confidently navigate people challenges while embedding best practice across the business.

Working closely with the Head of People, you'll be a trusted partner to managers, spending most of your time providing practical advice, coaching and support on employee relations, performance, attendance, wellbeing and day-to-day people matters. Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to projects, improve HR processes, develop policies and support the implementation of new people initiatives as the organisation continues to grow.

As HR Business Partner, you'll play a key role in strengthening management capability and creating a positive employee experience by:

  • Partnering with managers to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice across a wide range of people matters.
  • Managing a varied employee relations caseload, including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance cases.
  • Coaching and developing managers, giving them the confidence to lead their teams, handle difficult conversations and drive high performance.
  • Delivering training, facilitating meetings and supporting leadership development across the business.
  • Supporting recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding and talent development activities.
  • Writing and reviewing HR policies and procedures, ensuring they remain compliant, practical and fit for purpose.
  • Using people data and business insight to identify trends, recommend improvements and support informed decision-making.
  • Contributing to HR projects, continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of employment law changes and new people practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
