HR Business Partner
We are looking for a HR Business Partner to play a key role in translating people plans into practical action across the business. The role will provide day-to-day HR partnering support to managers, ensuring that people priorities are delivered consistently, effectively and in line with organisational objectives, policy and employment legislation.
Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, this role is focused on operational execution, manager support and the delivery of effective people solutions. Working closely with the Senior HR Business Partner, Centres of Excellence and HR colleagues, you will help implement change, support employee relations activity, improve manager capability and ensure that HR services are responsive, pragmatic and aligned to business needs.

Your responsibilities
- Support the Senior HR Business Partner in delivering people plans, HR priorities and business-aligned actions across designated business areas.
- Provide practical, timely and commercially aware HR advice to managers on a broad range of operational people matters.
- Manage and support employee relations cases, including absence, performance, conduct, grievance and capability matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Coach managers to build confidence and capability in applying HR policies, managing people issues and leading their teams effectively.
- Support the implementation of organisational change activity, including consultation processes, restructures, role changes and workforce transition activity.
- Work with HR colleagues and specialist teams to coordinate the delivery of recruitment, onboarding, learning, reward, engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
- Use HR data and management information to monitor trends, identify operational issues and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, policies and ways of working to improve service quality and employee experience.
- Build effective relationships with managers, employees and HR colleagues, acting as a trusted point of contact for operational HR support.
- Ensure people-related activity is delivered in line with organisational values, employment legislation, policy requirements and agreed HR service standards.

Your profile
You will be a confident and proactive HR professional who enjoys working close to the business and delivering practical people solutions. You will be comfortable supporting managers with day-to-day people issues, applying HR policy in a balanced and consistent way and escalating strategic or complex matters where appropriate. You will bring strong judgement, sound employee relations knowledge and a collaborative approach to working within a wider HR team.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Generalist HR experience, including experience advising managers on operational people matters.
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law, HR policy and employee relations practice.
- Experience managing or supporting employee relations cases such as absence, conduct, grievance, performance and capability.
- Ability to provide clear, practical and balanced advice to managers, with appropriate escalation of higher-risk or more complex matters.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with managers, employees and HR colleagues.
- Experience supporting the implementation of HR initiatives, organisational change or workforce-related activity.
- Ability to use HR data and management information to identify themes, track activity and support operational decision-making.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy HR environment.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a wider HR team to deliver consistent, joined-up support.
- A commitment to DEI, wellbeing and positive employee experience.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- CIPD Level 5 qualification, working towards CIPD Level 7, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a complex, multi-site, unionised or regulated environment.
- Experience supporting consultation activity, restructures or other organisational change processes.
- Experience using HR systems, case management tools or reporting dashboards.
- Experience supporting engagement, wellbeing, talent, recruitment or learning initiatives.
- Understanding of how operational HR delivery contributes to wider people strategy and business performance.
