HR Co-ordinator
HR Administrator (Maternity Cover) – Elland, Halifax
About the Role
Reports to: HR Adviser Location: Elland, Halifax Contract type: Permanent (initially within HR for maternity cover, subject to redeployment thereafter)
Purpose of the role: Provide proactive HR administration support, ensuring alignment with company policies, quality standards, and legislation. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting recruitment and selection processes (e.g., sourcing candidates, shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding).
- Acting as a first point of contact for employees, managers, customers, and visitors (including during lunch/holiday cover).
- Managing employee engagement, training, development, and adherence to policies.
- Overseeing holiday, absence, and annual appraisal systems.
- Admin work, including switchboard duties, internal communications, and policy documentation.
Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
- Build and maintain professional relationships across TeamTerberg, management, and employees.
- Uphold and implement company policies (ensuring compliance and consistency).
- Assist with recruitment administration, onboarding processes, and pre-employment checks.
- Update and review HR policies (managing implementation guidelines).
- Conduct day-to-day HR queries—supporting both line managers and employees at all organisational levels.
- Handle employee records (databases, personnel files, third-party contacts) for accurate tracking.
- Support recruitment processes, from job advertising to candidate interviews/assessments.
- Facilitate the internal induction process (design and delivery).
- Implement holiday booking systems (ensuring compliance with company agreement).
- Manage absenteeism records and arrange Return-to-Work processes.

Employee Engagement & Development
- Guide and advise both employees and managers on company policy matters.
- Design and coordinate training and development plans (post-appraisal).
- Promote positive workplace culture, embodying TeamTerberg’s values.
- Assist HR Manager in communications, including emails, newsletters, and notice boards.
Operational & Customer Service duties
- Cover reception during lunch and holidays, managing incoming calls via the computer-based switchboard.
- Provide a professional response to visitors, customers, and internal teams.
Miscellaneous/Contingency
- Prepare for tasks that may be required beyond defined responsibilities (in accordance with operational needs).
Key Qualifications & Experience
Critical Skills Required
- Proficient communication (verbal/written) across hierarchical levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form trust-based relationships.
- Self-motivated with a workload management mindset (ability prioritise and self-direct).
- Exceptional organisation and attention to detail (adaptable to tight deadlines).
- Presentational skills (able to communicate effectively with managers and employees).
- Willingness to challenge the status quo, researching process improvements and suggesting efficiencies.

Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in a fast-paced HR environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
- Strong competency in PowerPoint, and strong digital literacy.
