HR Consultant
Location: Maidenhead, Berkshire (Office-Based with Hybrid Flexibility)

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working in a dynamic SME environment where they can influence strategy while remaining hands-on across the full employee lifecycle.
The Role:
As the HR Consultant, you will be the primary HR advisor to managers and employees across the business. You will provide practical, commercially focused HR guidance, ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation while supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, organizational development, and employee engagement.
This is a varied role requiring someone who is equally comfortable advising senior leaders, managing complex employee relations matters, improving HR processes, and supporting day-to-day HR operations.
Requirements
General HR Support:
- Provide first-line HR advice to managers and employees.
- Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, probation, and offboarding.
- Prepare contracts, offer letters, and HR correspondence.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Assist with employee benefits administration and HR reporting.

Recruitment:
- Coordinate recruitment activities from advertising through to onboarding.
- Screen CVs and arrange interviews.
- Liaise with recruitment agencies and hiring managers.
- Support candidate onboarding and induction.
Employee Relations:
- Assist managers with routine employee relations matters, including absence management, probation, disciplinary, and grievance processes.
- Prepare documentation and attend meetings where required.
- Escalate more complex cases to senior management when appropriate.
HR Compliance:
- Ensure HR documentation complies with UK employment legislation.
- Support right-to-work checks and employment compliance.
- Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
Client Support:
- Provide HR support to client organizations as required.
- Work collaboratively with client HR teams, HR Consultants, and People Managers.
- Assist with HR projects, recruitment campaigns, employee engagement initiatives, and policy updates.
- Build positive relationships while representing VE3 professionally.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 2–4 years' experience in an HR Advisor, HR Officer, HR Generalist, or HR Consultant role.
- Good understanding of UK employment law and HR practices.
- Experience supporting recruitment and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems.

Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification (or working towards).
- Experience within a technology, consultancy, or professional services environment.
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders or clients.
- Knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.

We're looking for someone who is approachable, organized, and enjoys working with people. You'll be confident supporting managers with everyday HR matters, comfortable working independently, and adaptable enough to support both VE3 and our clients when required.
A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong customer-service mindset are just as important as technical HR knowledge.
