# HR Consultant (Employee Relations)

Job Details

  • Salary: £39,671–£45,004 FTE | £32,166–£36,490 pro rata (30-hour contract)
  • Location: Hybrid working (West Midlands) with school site travel
  • Contract: Permanent | 30 hours per week (5 days, 52 weeks)

The Opportunity

An exciting role for an experienced Employee Relations specialist to join a respected education support organization. This hybrid position offers:

  • Complex casework: Handling disciplinary, grievance, absentism, capability, and safeguarding matters
  • Blended working: Home-based with school visits during term time
  • Pragmatic HR consultancy: Delivering commercially focused advice and fostering trusted school relationships
  • Organisation-wide impact: Supporting change projects, policy development, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end Employee Relations investigations:
    • Disciplinary/procedural hearings, capability assessments
    • Workplace investigations writes and findings recommendations
    • Grievance resolutions and safeguarding reports
  • Provide legal compliance and best practice guidance on employment law, policies, and procedures
  • Lead HR organisational change initiatives, including:
    • Restructures
    • TUPE transfers
    • One-to-one manager coaching
  • Work alongside Trade Unions on partner engagement
  • Design and facilitate HR training for school leaders and teams
  • Contribute to ongoing HR policy improvements in collaboration with the team

About You

We’re looking for an -operations-focused practitioner with experience in delivering high-volume, complex ER processes. Your background should ideally include:

✔ Proven track record managing in-depth Employee Relations cases ✔ Advanced knowledge of employment law, case law, and internal guidance frameworks ✔ Experience dealing with Trade Unions and handling negotiating processes ✔ Organisational change consultancy (e.g., TUPE transfers, collective consultations) ✔ Ability to explain HR advice clearly to diverse internal stakeholders ✔ Strong travelling willingness for client site visits ✔ School/education/public sector experience is advantageous but not essential
