HR Data Analyst

HR Data Analyst - 12 Month FTC (potential extension)

Location: London Salary: £58,000 - £70,000 + Excellent Benefits Package


Overview

We are collaborating with a large, complex, matrixed organisation undergoing significant business transformation, presenting an opportunity for an experienced HR Data Analyst to join a high-profile programme team.

This role sits at the core of a large-scale organisational change initiative, providing critical workforce data, reporting, and analytical insights to enable informed decision-making across multiple business functions. You will work alongside HR, Finance, Programme Management, and senior business leaders to ensure:

  • People data remains accurate, compliant, and readily available
  • Effective support for transformation delivery

The ideal candidate will:

  • Manage large and complex workforce datasets
  • Provide executive-level reporting
  • Maintain programme data integrity
  • Support workforce cost and programme benefits tracking

Key Responsibilities

HR Data Management & Governance

  • Take ownership of workforce data relating to the transformation programme, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the lifecycle.
  • Manage and maintain complex people data trackers, reflecting organisational structures, employee movements, and role changes.
  • Validate, reconcile, and cleanse large volumes of workforce data, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal governance standards.
  • Align programme information with live employee records across HR systems and data sources.
  • Continuously review and improve data processes, templates, and reporting tools for efficiency and accuracy.

Reporting & Workforce Analytics

  • Produce regular executive-level reporting, dashboards, and management packs to provide clear programme visibility and workforce metrics.
  • Develop insightful reporting supporting governance, implementation milestones, and organisational readiness.
  • Deliver bespoke workforce analyses to HR, Finance, Programme teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor programme progress via KPIs and workforce metrics, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities.
  • Support post-implementation reporting to assess programme outcomes and effectiveness.

Programme Support

  • Collaborate with Programme Managers to ensure workforce data accurately reflects organisational design decisions.
  • Provide accurate workforce information for consultation, implementation, and change activities.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for workforce analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Prepare programme data for transition to business-as-usual processes.

Financial & Benefits Analysis

  • Partner with Finance teams to track:
    • Workforce costs
    • Programme savings
    • Benefits realisation
  • Maintain accurate cost reporting across multiple business areas.
  • Validate workforce data against programme assumptions to support financial reconciliation.
  • Investigate and resolve workforce cost queries to ensure reporting accuracy.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective working relationships with:
    • HR
    • Finance
    • Programme Management
    • Senior operational leaders
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data queries, offering expert guidance.
  • Present workforce insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders clearly.
  • Influence decision-making through accurate reporting and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborate across multiple business functions in a highly matrixed environment.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in HR Data Analyst, People Analytics, Workforce Planning, or HR Reporting.
  • Experience in large, complex, matrixed organisations.
  • Strong HR data, organisational structure, and workforce reporting expertise.
  • Proven ability to manage large, sensitive datasets with precision.
  • Experience producing reports, dashboards, and management information for leadership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with cross-functional confidence.
  • Experience partnering with Finance for workforce costs, budgeting, or benefits tracking.
  • Deep understanding of GDPR and data governance principles.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting large-scale transformations, restructures, or change programmes.
  • Knowledge of HRIS platforms (e.g., SAP, Workday).
  • Experience developing dashboards using Power BI.
  • Understanding of organisational design and workforce planning methodologies.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, Conditional Formatting, Data Validation, Complex Formulas).
  • Highly advantageous: Proficiency in Power BI for advanced reporting.
  • Ability to consolidate data from multiple systems into meaningful outputs.
  • Efficient large dataset manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience in creating visual dashboards and executive reporting.
