About the Role

We’re on the lookout for an exceptional CPO, CHRO, People/HR Director, or Senior HR Consultant—someone who wants to unlock potential, drive impactful people strategies, and collaborate with like-minded professionals.

The Opportunity

  • Location: Base in the West Midlands (supporting clients across Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, and surrounding areas)

  • Can align People strategies with business goals and demonstrate a big-picture, commercial mindset
  • Excel at leading strategic HR initiatives (e.g., Culture Change, Leadership Development, Organisational Design, D&I, Wellbeing, L&D, Talent Management, Business Transformation)
  • Are pragmatic yet exuberant—happy to deep-dive into solutions while keeping the end goal commercially transparent
  • Enjoy business development—supporting with new client attraction and collaborative Regional Director partnerships
  • Love influencing stakeholder decisions with candour, energy, and strategic insight
  • Can develop high-performing teams—mentoring and building strong relationships
  • Connect effortlessly with SME owners and business leaders

Key Responsibilities

Core Delivery

  • Lead strategic HR solutions, including:
    • Business & strategic HR planning
    • Culture change & business transformation
    • Change management
    • Leadership & executive coaching
    • Organisational design & restructuring
    • Diversity & Inclusion (D&I)
    • Employee wellbeing strategies
    • Learning & Development (L&D)
    • Talent acquisition & management
  • Have full accountability for your portfolio of clients, ensuring outstanding client service alignment with the wider People Puzzles team

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Collaborate with Regional Directors/Marketing to promote the business and attract new clients
  • Leverage your network, persuasiveness, and testament of past success to grow your reach

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

✔ 3+ years as a CPO/CHRO, HR Director, or equivalent—preferably in SME-focused strategic roles ✔ CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent) qualification ✔ Proven track record of influencing board decisions and spotting business opportunities ✔ Hands-on experience in retail, manufacturing, services, or startups (advantageous) ✔ Strong business consultancy mindset—triangulating HR and strategic outcomes ✔ Tech-savvy: AI tools, automated HR processes, and trend adoption
