HR Director

HR Director (Global People & Talent) – High-Growth Scale-Up

This position is part of a partnership, with applications and next steps managed by the client company. Based in the United Kingdom, this role offers a rare opportunity to build and lead a global People function from the ground up during an exciting phase of rapid international expansion.

The ideal candidate will shape the HR strategy, implement cutting-edge people processes, and construct the systems that enable scalable, efficient growth across multiple regions. This highly autonomous role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, making it perfect for a proactive HR leader passionate about setting up world-class People Operations in a fast-moving, tech-driven environment where talent is a core competitive advantage.


Key Accountabilities

  • Define and execute a comprehensive People strategy that aligns workforce planning with business objectives during periods of rapid growth.
  • Conduct a full operational audit—reviewing compensation, compliance, talent development, and KPIs—while identifying AI & automation opportunities to drive efficiency.
  • Design and implement scalable HR processes, including:
    • Onboarding & probation programs
    • Performance management & career development frameworks
    • Employee engagement initiatives
    • Offboarding procedures
  • Build a data-driven recruitment framework—optimizing:
    • Hiring workflows & interview methodologies
    • Manager enablement & talent assessment tools
    • Rapid scaling mechanisms while maintaining high-quality hiring and cultural fit
  • Establish HR dashboards & KPIs to track:
    • Hiring efficiency & quality
    • Talent retention & organizational performance
    • Workforce effectiveness metrics
  • Create transparent frameworks for:
    • Grades & compensation structures
    • Performance reviews
    • Objectives & Key Results (OKRs)
  • Lead global HR operations across multiple regions, ensuring alignment with:
    • Payroll & Employer of Record (EOR) partners
    • Local employment compliance requirements
  • Select & optimize HR technologies, including:
    • HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems)
    • ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems)
    • Workflow automation platforms
  • Build and mentor a high-performing People & Talent team, including:
    • Coaching managers on leadership, feedback, and team development
  • Foster a high-performance culture based on:
    • Ownership, accountability, collaboration, transparency
    • Continuous improvement & innovation

Key Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • 5–7+ years as an HR Director or People Operations leader, with demonstrated success in building an HR function from scratch in a high-growth startup or scale-up.
  • Strong background in FinTech, Crypto, high-growth SaaS, or similar multi-regional technology sectors.
  • Experience in scaling HR functions—preferably from ~50 to 200+ employees.
  • Proven track record in managing globally distributed teams and multi-country employment models, including:
    • Employment of Record (EOR) compliance
    • International payroll coordination
  • Ability to develop long-term People strategies while deeply hands-on in implementation.
  • Data-driven HR leadership, with experience:
    • Using metrics, dashboards, and analytics to enhance decision-making
    • Leveraging data for organizational efficiency & performance optimization

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Strong recruitment leadership, with the ability to rapidly scale hiring without compromising quality or cultural alignment.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management & executive influence, including:
    • Direct CEO-level collaboration
    • Effective communication with senior leadership teams
  • Confidence in implementing HR technology, automation, and AI tools to streamline operations.
