Early Talent Development Specialist
Location: Canary Wharf, London (13-month Fixed-Term Contract, maternity cover)
Important: Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. No visa sponsorship available.
A substantial opportunity has arisen for an Early Talent Development Specialist to join a global law firm. You will serve as the primary point of contact for around 150 trainees, responsible for:
- Delivering career development meetings to advise on:
- Performance
- Development pathways
- Seat and qualification preferences
- Leading the trainee qualification process (in close coordination with Trainee Partners, HR Business Partners, and trainees)
Key responsibilities include:
- Resource Management: Identifying training needs with Resource Managers
- Secondments: Collaborating with Partners and Global Mobility to facilitate assignments
- Recruitment Support: Presenting pre-training contract sessions
- Training Initiatives:
- Supervisor training
- Partnering with the Academy team on learning initiatives
- Coaching and mentoring trainees to maximise their potential
- Initiative & Strategy:
- Leading the Trainee Learning Curriculum
- Supplier management
- Inclusion and Diversity projects
- Employee Relations Matters:
- Conducting exit interviews
- Advising on grievances or disciplinary procedures
- Stakeholder Relations: Acting as a trusted business advisor.

Requirements & Qualifications
Proven experience in Early Talent Development within a law firm is essential. Strong background in HR, particularly as an Early Talent Development Specialist or HR Business Partner, is highly valued.

Additional key criteria include:
- Experience: Managing early talent programmes, with a focus on performance management
- Relationship Building: Ability to build strong rapport with senior stakeholders
- Qualifications: CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) or an equivalent qualification is advantageous
Work Arrangements: Monday–Friday, hybrid model with a minimum of three days in-office.
