About the Role
Providing hands-on, operational HR support to a unionised food manufacturing site undergoing cultural and engagement transformation. This role strengthens employee engagement, improves attendance, and embeds consistent people practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the HR Business Partner and site leadership team in developing inclusive, motivated, and high-performing teams.
- Embed consistent people practices while maintaining a strong shop-floor presence.
- Own absence management, acting as a trusted HR point of contact for both managers and colleagues.
- Translate people initiatives into meaningful, daily experiences for employees—fostering a culture of engagement, value, and alignment to business goals.

Key Deliverables

HR Strategy & Engagement
- Develop and deliver site-specific HR plans.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, focus groups, and action plans.

Attendance & Absence
- Monitor absence trends and reduce absence levels through KPIs and intervention.
- Facilitate attendance conversations and hearings, collaborating with line managers.

Wellbeing & Inclusion
- Partner with Occupational Health to implement site wellbeing initiatives.
- Champion D&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) programs aligned with Employee Value Proposition (EVP).

HR Operations
- Manage onboarding, recruiting, and HR governance at site level.
- Data management: Ensure accuracy in absence, engagement, and people cycle metrics.

Leadership & Training
- Support Team Managers with HR policy, compliance, and coaching.
- Assist in recruiting/program training needs and coordinate skill development budgets.

Compliance & Supplier Liaison
- Manage Working Time Directive (WTD) compliance, supplier audits (e.g., SEDEX/BRC), and joint council industrial relations.

Value Communication & Culture
- Create engaging local communications for site priorities, cultural change, and HR policies.
- Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor to reinforce behaviour and values.

External: Suppliers, Colleges/Universities, Recruitment Agencies
What You’ll Need
Essential:
✔ Proven HR experience, with understanding of Employee Engagement & Life Cycle. ✔ Strong communication, planning, problem-solving, and organisation skills. ✔ Ability to influence, drive change, and build trusted relationships. ✔ Experience with industrial relations, conflict resolution, HR policies, and systems. ✔ Self-motivation to learn and adapt ‘new practices.’
Desirable:
🆘 Experience in food/manufacturing environment. 🆙 CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification.
