Company Information
Founded in 1924, Nuvonic is a UK-headquartered OEM UV disinfection specialist and part of Halma, a FTSE 100 group of life-saving technology companies. We protect people, processes and brands from harmful contamination by combining a century of UV expertise with trusted, high-quality solutions and exceptional service.
With manufacturing in the UK, Germany and China, and a US distribution hub, Nuvonic supports customers globally across water, air and surface treatment, including specialist applications such as TOC reduction, de-chlorination and de-ozonation.
The Role
This is a hands-on HR Manager role with real scope to shape how people practices work at Nuvonic. The successful candidate will combine sound HR judgement with practical delivery, helping managers take ownership of people management while improving the processes, tools and guidance that support employees across the business.
As a new role, there is an opportunity to shape and evolve the function over time. The HR Manager will support Nuvonic’s People Management Operating Model and help deliver its people-management goals in line with the company’s values, operational needs and international growth ambitions.
The role will act as a strategic advisor to managers across the employment life cycle, providing specialist guidance on people-management matters while enabling a consistent self-service approach to routine transactions through Workday, the Nuvonic People Management Hub and other platforms.
Alongside this advisory role, the HR Manager will own day-to-day HR operational activity and coordinate with Admin and Business Support functions globally, including Finance for payroll and the US Halma Talent Team for US benefits. The emphasis will be on advising, guiding and equipping managers, while also taking responsibility for the practical HR delivery required in a one-person HR function.
Nuvonic has approximately 120 employees across Slough, UK; Kürten and Ilmenau, Germany; and Charlotte, NC, USA. The largest employee population is based across two UK sites in Slough, and the HR Manager will provide people-management support across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Advisory Support:
- Create and maintain practical processes, policies, manager guides and templates for routine events in the employment life cycle, and signpost managers to these resources so they can transact and record changes themselves.

- Provide expert advice to managers on non-routine people-management matters and help identify appropriate solutions that comply with country-specific employment law, liaising with Halma specialists and external legal advisers where required.
- Support managers with employee relations cases, including contract changes, disciplinary matters and grievances. Provide template documents to support accurate record-keeping and, in exceptional circumstances, attend formal meetings where required.
- Ensure the Managing Director, Finance Director and relevant Leadership Team members are informed promptly of serious employee relations issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
