HR Manager

Our client, a leading social care charity based in Newcastle with several sites across Tyne & Wear employing 350 staff, is seeking to appoint an HR Manager to shape the character and direction of its HR management activities, focussing on supporting the organisation's goals.

Your specific responsibilities as HR Manager will include:

  • Setting the direction for all the key areas of HR, including hiring, performance appraisal, development, and compensation
  • Managing and mentoring two HR Co-ordinators
  • Working closely with the IT Lead on the digital HR information system
  • Leading on employee engagement, L&D, health & wellbeing and workplace culture
  • Taking overall responsibility for absence management processes and practices
  • Overseeing recruitment
  • Reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Managing employee relations, including terms & conditions, performance, disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, and redundancies
  • Taking responsibility for Payroll
  • Monthly reporting to the Directorate

As HR Manager you will need:

  • A level 5 CIPD qualification
  • Experience in or empathy with the Social Care sector and its values
  • HR Generalist experience
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law
  • Experience of digital HR information systems
