Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives in fast‑paced operational environments? Do you enjoy partnering with leaders to drive performance, engagement and culture? Are you confident managing complex employee relations while influencing senior stakeholders?
Here at GXO, we’re recruiting for an HR Manager to support our operation at Avonmouth. This is a full‑time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00, where you’ll lead and deliver a comprehensive HR service, partnering with site leadership to drive performance, engagement and operational excellence.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £55,000 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
Act as a trusted business partner to the Site General Manager and leadership team, translating people strategy into practical actions that drive operational performance, engagement and cultural alignment Lead and manage a full range of complex employee relations matters, ensuring consistent application of policies, mitigating risk and providing expert guidance aligned to UK employment legislation Drive site‑wide performance and engagement initiatives, including appraisal processes, engagement plans and retention strategies, using data and insight to inform continuous improvement Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment and workforce planning activities, including agency strategy, resourcing models and onboarding processes to support fluctuating operational demands Ensure robust HR operations and compliance, including accurate data management, payroll inputs, reporting, audits and alignment with GXO policies and legal requirements

What you need to succeed at GXO:
Demonstrable experience operating at HR Manager level within a fast‑paced logistics, warehousing or operational environment, supporting large, shift‑based workforces Strong employee relations expertise, with the confidence and capability to manage complex, high‑risk cases and coach managers through challenging situations Proven ability to influence, challenge and support senior stakeholders, building credible relationships that drive accountability and performance In‑depth and up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law, with the ability to apply it pragmatically within an operational setting CIPD Level 5 (or above) or equivalent experience, with a proactive, commercially focused and solutions‑driven mindset
