We have major processing sites across England and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.
About The Role

As an inclusive forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to HR across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated HR Officer to join our site in Caistor, North Lincolnshire.
What will you be doing as an HR Officer at Avara?
Under the guidance of the HR Manager in Derbyshire, the HR Officer works as a key member within the Caistor site team, to ensure all the people elements of the colleague lifecycle are professionally delivered and compliant with legal and company policy, whilst supporting operational effectiveness.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00.
What will your key responsibilities as HR Officer include?
- Giving appropriate HR advice on key issues, supporting managers in disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings and confirming the outcomes of hearings.
- Supporting managers and HR colleagues in change management activities.
- Providing effective advice and guidance on all absence management cases.
- Liaising with occupational health providers and specialists where required.
- In partnership with relevant department managers, managing headcount requirements including actual vs planned heads to identify vacancies.
- Working with the resourcing and wider HR team to ensure effective onboarding of new colleagues.
- Liaising with the HR Shared Services function to ensure delivery against key activities that support the operational HR Team.
- Coaching and mentoring managers to ensure regular 1:1s and development reviews are carried out.
- Working with the site management team to support and deliver aspects of the site training provision, ensuring training needs are identified and appropriate interventions are put in place.
- In conjunction with the Site Administrator, ensuring that data requirements are fed into the Avara Payroll team in accordance with set deadlines.
- Ad hoc project work.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Current or recent experience working in a HR position along with up-to-date knowledge of employment law.
- CIPD qualified or part qualified - Level 5.
- A high level of personal integrity demonstrating respect and empathy for others being consistent, open and honest.
- A methodical approach to work with attention to detail and ability to prioritise.
- The ability to handle conflict/confrontation professionally and effectively.
- Confidence using a range of Microsoft Office and HR programmes.
