Job Title: HR Operations Team Leader (Fixed-term, 12-month contract)
Location: Brunel University of London, Uxbridge Campus
Salary: £41,292 – £44,762 inclusive of London Allowance, with progression potential to £48,557 inclusive of London Allowance per annum.

As part of Brunel University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Programme, we are implementing Oracle Fusion HCM – a strategic investment to modernise HR processes, improve data quality, and enhance employee and managerial experience.
We are seeking an experienced HR Operations Team Leader to join the team during this critical transformation phase, offering fixed-term leadership support for 12 months.
Reporting line: Senior HR Operations Manager
Primary responsibility: Lead a team of HR Administrators, ensuring high-quality HR operational services across the entire employee lifecycle, with a focus on operational readiness for Oracle Fusion HCM.
Key deliverables:
- Deliver seamless HR operations while actively supporting process adoption and employee engagement during change.
- Embed new systems, improve efficiency, and drive continuous operational excellence.
- Act as an ambassador of excellence in customer service, balancing operational rigour with embracing innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Team leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop a team of HR Administrators in delivering administrative HR functions.
- Process adherence: Ensure seamless alignment with HR policies and compliance requirements, minimising risk.
- Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with business leaders, employees, external partners, and IT teams to support operational workflows and troubleshoot issues.
- Oracle Fusion HCM: Collaborate with the ERP team to ensure smooth migration, highlighting underlying operational needs and embedding efficient practices.
- Change management: Provide proactive support to colleagues during transformation, fostering adoption and engagement.
- Performance tracking: Monitor KPIs for efficiency and communicate challenges and solutions to senior management.
- Workforce administration: Oversee tasks such as recruitment coordination, onboarding, payroll liaison, and termination processes.
- Staff development: Identify learning gaps and support talent growth within the HR frontline team.
- Risk mitigation: Implement robust controls to safeguard data integrity and address any compliance gaps.
- Systems maintenance: Monitor and troubleshoot HR administrative systems, liaising with IT teams for resolution where necessary.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive HR experience: At least 7+ years in HR administration, preferably within a large and complex organisation (ideally academic or public sector).
- Proven team leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop subordinates, fostering collaboration and growth.
- Operational expertise: Strong grasp of entire employee lifecycle stages (recruitment, KYC, termination, payroll).
- Process focus: Experience of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or process mapping) to enhance efficiency.
- Technical familiarity: Proficient working with traditional HR systems (e.g., Voice, PeopleSoft) and ideally exposure to new-generation HR software.
- Stakeholder awareness: Skilled in building trust with senior leadership, operational teams, and employees while maintaining professional discretion.
- Service mindset: Unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, adapting to user needs in fast-evolving environments.

Desirable:
- Experience with Oracle Fusion HCM or similar HR technology will be a strong advantage.
- Formal qualifications, such as CIPD membership, are welcomed but not mandatory.
- Project management experience in implementing new systems.
- Change management experience in organisational transformation programmes.
