The Role
We’re looking for a HS&E Advisor to support our Framework HS&E Manager in driving excellence across health, safety, and environmental performance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in HS&E who wants to make a real impact by supporting operational teams, promoting best practice, and helping deliver industry-leading standards across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
As HS&E Advisor, you’ll:
- Support the implementation of our Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) strategy across projects.
- Promote a positive safety culture, aligned with Galliford Try’s Challenging Beliefs and Affecting Behaviours programme.
- Provide practical HS&E advice and technical guidance to operational and site teams.
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of our HS&E Management System.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, including ISO 14001 audits.
- Assist project teams with:
- Construction Phase Plans
- Emergency Response Plans
- Risk assessments
- Method statements
- Investigate incidents and non-conformities, identifying root causes and driving improvements.
- Monitor HS&E performance, analyse KPIs, and support continual improvement initiatives.
- Prepare monthly reports and present findings to senior leadership.
- Engage with:
- Clients
- Supply chain partners
- Regulators
- Internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver HS&E training, awareness sessions, and best practice guidance across the business.
- Support the onboarding and management of supply chain partners where required.
- Escalate significant HS&E concerns appropriately and work collaboratively to resolve issues.

Essential Requirements

- Relevant HS&E experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or a similar industry.
- NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or currently working towards).
- Good understanding of:
- HS&E management systems
- Legislation
- Risk management
- Experience supporting environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel across projects throughout the UK.
Desirable
- Membership of IOSH or IIRSM (minimum TechIOSH).
- CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status.
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma (or above) in a relevant discipline.
- Experience within:
- The water sector
- Other regulated infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of HS&E reporting and data analytics systems.
