HSE Officer - Glass

Elton | Permanent | £50,000 - £55,000 | Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-2.30pm (38.75 hours)

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable HSE Officer to play a key leadership role in driving health, safety and environmental excellence within our Glass Manufacturing operations.

This is more than a coordination role - you will act as a trusted advisor to operational leadership, shaping HSE strategy at a functional level while ensuring robust day-to-day compliance. You will champion our Zero Harm to People and Environment vision, embedding a proactive safety culture and delivering measurable improvements in performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with plant leadership to embed HSE into operational and strategic decision-making
  • Lead delivery of HSE plans aligned with business objectives and Zero Harm ambition
  • Act as a visible HSE leader, driving a strong, values-led safety culture
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, standards, and ISO 45001/14001 systems
  • Lead audits, regulatory engagement, and ensure ongoing audit readiness
  • Provide expert guidance, translating legal requirements into practical site controls
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and lasting solutions
  • Oversee risk management, safe systems of work, and high-risk activities (including PTW and contractors)
  • Use data and KPIs to drive performance, identify trends, and deliver improvement initiatives
  • Conduct audits and inspections, delivering clear insights to senior stakeholders
  • Build HSE capability through coaching, training, and strong workforce engagement
  • Act as a key HSE contact for contractors, visitors, and external stakeholders
