LOCATION: Prysmian Cables & Systems Ltd, Wrexham Plant, 100% Factory based REPORTING TO: QHSE Manager Job Role: To actively support the Plant QHSE Manager in maintaining a safe, compliant, and continuously improving work environment. The HSE Operation Support is a hands-on, visible presence on the shop floor, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met, supporting compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities: 1. On-the-Ground Safety Support - Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections of the manufacturing/workshop areas to identify and address hazards. - Respond immediately to safety issues, unsafe acts, or near misses, and intervene as needed. - Coach all employees to correctly use required PPE at all time and to comply with site safety rules. 2. Training, Coaching & Communication - Deliver on-the-job safety and environmental training, toolbox talks, and briefings to employees and contractors. - Communicate and reinforce good safety practices and HSE rules. - Participate in safety and environmental campaigns and promote a culture of shared vigilance. - Coach supervisors in gaining autonomy managing HSE issues in their teams 3. Incident & Risk Management - Member of the immediate response team for safety and environmental incidents; collect facts, conduct initial investigations, and support root cause analysis. - Support the implementation and follow-up of corrective actions and action plans. - Member of working groups (manufacturing, logistics, maintenance° who carries out and document risk assessments. Follow-up implementation of risk reduction measures. 4. Regulatory & Administrative Support - Assist with HSE data reporting, maintaining dashboards, and updating documentation (e.g., COSHH assessments, Safety Work Instructions, …). - Support chemical inventory management and participate to maintaining compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., UK COSHH, ISO45001, ISO14001, etc). - Participate in audits, inspections, and emergency drills. 5. Continuous Improvement - Contribute to HSE improvement projects and propose new actions/tools. - Participate in the development and implementation of innovative HSE practices. Key Relationships: - Production teams on the shop floor HSE Profile and competencies Technical Skills: - Understanding of manufacturing processes and safety equipment. - Familiarity with HSE standards (ISO45001, ISO14001), regulatory codes, and risk assessment tools. - IT proficiency (Office 365, SharePoint, Teams). Behavioural Skills: - Field-oriented, team player, and sets a positive example. - Strong communication and persuasion skills. - Proactive, able to make proposals and drive improvements. - Physical stamina for active, hands-on work. Qualifications: - 2 years’ higher education or equivalent experience in HSE or related field. - Knowledge of HSE obligations, risks, and tools.
