Electrician – Building Services Support

Essential Information
- Location: Lanark Business Unit
- Hours: Permanent, 37 hours per week
- Salary: £39,856 – £40,995 per annum
About the Role
South Lanarkshire Council seeks experienced Electricians to support electrical works within Building Services.
You will:
- Carry out new builds, refurbishments, maintenance, and Testing & Inspection programmes
- Manage varied workloads with a flexible approach
- Operate across both commercial and domestic properties
- Work independently and in teams (as required) to deliver timely electrical solutions
Subject to meeting criteria, placement will depend on the Advanced Electrician grade availability.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Performing time-served electrical works in accordance with relevant SVQ Level 3/City & Guilds qualifications
- Demonstrating sound practical and technical competencies for testing, inspection, and installation tasks
- Ensuring health and safety adherence at all times
- Meeting targets and deadlines
- Providing excellent customer care and maintaining strong communication skills
Location: Travel throughout South Lanarkshire is essential for all duties.
Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Hold valid trade qualifications (e.g., SVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds) in a relevant discipline
- Prove 5+ years of recent experience in electrical installations (in commercial or domestic properties)
- Hold recent certifications in:
- Testing & Inspection aligned with current UK regulations
- Show awareness of time management and ability to work under pressure
- Have strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer-centric work
- Must allow for a mandatory medical check (if shortlisted)
