Human Factors Specialist

Locations: United Kingdom

Employment Type: Full-time

RB Safety Consultants is growing, and we’re looking for a Human Factors Specialist to join our high-performing team. If you’re passionate about applying Human Factors expertise to some of the UK’s most complex and safety-critical programmes, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.


Eligibility & Security Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance. Please note that clearance eligibility may be restricted based on nationality requirements set by the UK government.


What You’ll Deliver

  • Lead the delivery of engineering and technical activities, applying strong process knowledge and domain expertise.
  • Develop HF requirements, strategies and delivery plans to support nuclear facility capability.
  • Lead Human Factors contributions to safety case development.
  • Provide expert HF advice and guidance aligned with relevant good practice and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare, review and approve HF Integration Plans.
  • Produce, check and assure HF deliverables supporting safety assessments.

Key Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in Human Factors assessment techniques, including:
    • Hierarchical Task Analysis
    • Tabular Task Analysis
    • SHERPA
    • Human Error Quantification (e.g., HEART, THERP)
    • Human Dependency Modelling (direct & indirect)
    • Human Error Reduction methods
    • Inputs to Fault Tree and Event Tree modelling
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of HF standards, regulation and good practice.
  • Experience delivering HF assessments for safety case production.
  • Excellent communication skills, including assessment delivery and report writing.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ALARP principles.
