Role Purpose

To deliver practical, commercially grounded HR advice and support to Go HR clients, helping SME business owners manage their people properly, stay compliant with employment law and avoid costly mistakes.

You will be the day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of clients, supporting them through employee relations matters, HR processes and documentation, and keeping them up to date with employment law changes that affect their business.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations and HR Advisory

  • Advise clients on a range of employee relations matters including conduct, capability, absence, grievance, redundancy and probation.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from clients, providing initial guidance in line with best practice and client procedures.
  • Guide managers through HR processes step by step, ensuring they follow the right procedure and understand the risk if they do not.
  • Attend client meetings and investigations where required.
  • Provide calm, clear, practical advice quickly. Clients are busy and need to know what to do next, not a lecture.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Draft letters, outcome letters, contracts, policies and other HR documentation to a high standard.
  • Ensure all documentation is to the Go HR standard documentation requirement: clear, legally compliant and in plain English.
  • Support clients with employment law updates and help them prepare for upcoming legislative changes.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on the clients' people system, Breathe HR.
  • All paperwork stored and maintained in line with GDPR requirements.

Client Relationships

  • Build strong working relationships with clients, understanding their business, their people, and their risk profile.
  • Manage your client portfolio effectively, responding to queries promptly and keeping clients informed.
  • Identify where clients may need additional support or a higher level of service and flag this appropriately.

Depending on clients' requirements activities may include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
