HR Advisor

Location: Remote – Oxford area

Reports to: Head of Client Delivery

Salary: Circa £35,000 pa dependant on experience, plus commission

At SYLO Beyond HR, we provide expert, people-first HR consultancy services to businesses across the UK. We’re growing, and we're looking for a hands-on, service-driven HR Advisor to deliver expert, pragmatic, and commercially minded advice to our client base.

This role is perfect for someone who excels at providing impactful HR advice, balancing legal compliance, best practice, and commercial sense along with occasional administration support. You will use your unrivalled knowledge of employment law and best practice, whilst building lasting relationships with clients and the team within Impact HR.

What you will be doing

You will provide proactive HR support to clients across various sectors, handling a wide range of people matters, queries, and projects.

Service delivery and client support

  • Provide advice to SYLO Beyond HR clients via phone, email & online call support as required
  • Ensure advice, documentation, and support are delivered to a consistently high standard
  • Deliver pragmatic HR advice in line with client expectations, both reactive and proactive
  • Support the HR Consultancy team providing advice to their portfolio of clients
  • Ensure your advice delivery is aligned with SYLO Beyond HR’s central tools, systems, and operational frameworks

Your day to day will include:

Employee relations

  • Guide clients through all types of ER cases, including but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, and capability cases
  • Provide advice and the relevant documentation to ensure a compliant process that meets the client’s needs

Absence management

  • Advise on managing short and long-term absence cases, including sickness, holidays, career breaks, and compassionate leave
  • Guide clients in the use of absence management tools such as welfare calls, return to work interviews, and absence review meetings

TUPE and redundancy

  • Provide first-line advice on TUPE transfer queries, including those involving redundancies
  • Guide clients through redundancy procedures, both standalone and multiple roles, ensuring a compliant process with relevant documentation

Family friendly and flexible working

  • Advise on family-friendly policies, both statutory and enhanced
  • Support clients through flexible working requests and hybrid working arrangements

Equality, diversity, and inclusion

  • Provide advice on EDI-related cases including discrimination, bullying, and harassment
  • Recommend and supply policy documentation to ensure clients can foster inclusive workplaces

Recruitment and selection

  • Advise clients on legal requirements and best practice in recruitment campaigns
  • Support with drafting job descriptions and designing fair and effective selection processes
  • Provide guidance on sourcing and attracting the right candidates for clients, including tools such as psychometric or on-the-job testing

Onboarding and induction

  • Review and design induction, onboarding, and probation processes that encourage employee engagement
  • Advise on managing probationary reviews and early-stage employment concerns

HR documentation

  • Draft and review offer documentation including contracts and onboarding forms
  • Advise on contractual variations
  • Work with clients to create and update handbooks and individual policies, tailored to their business

Business development and networking

  • Build strong relationships and deliver a consistently excellent service to help you identify opportunities to grow client accounts or introduce new services
  • Any other duties as required

  • You have developed strong relationships with the team and a number of clients, becoming a trusted advisor they turn to for support
  • You have handled a wide range of HR queries and casework, consistently delivering legally sound and practical advice
  • You have supported multiple clients with policy and documentation projects (contracts, handbooks, policies)
  • Your written and verbal communication is consistently accurate, professional, and tailored to the client
  • You have identified opportunities for additional consultancy support through projects, training, etc.
  • You have contributed to the development of internal consultancy processes and shared knowledge with your peers

About You

You are a skilled HR professional who combines solid HR knowledge with excellent communication, prioritization, and client service skills. You are comfortable working remotely within a wider team and autonomously at times, and love a variety in your work.

You will likely bring:

  • Experience, with a strong generalist HR background, ideally experience in consultancy or multi-site environment
  • Expert knowledge, with a solid understanding of UK employment law and best practice across the full employee lifecycle
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent prioritising and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS 365
  • Experience with CRMs and HR systems
  • A solutions-focused, commercially aware mindset
  • Application of data protection and confidentiality
