Are you building your career in HR and ready for a role that offers more than day-to-day administration?
Do you enjoy supporting managers, solving people challenges and using data to improve how HR operates? Are you looking for a role that bridges People Operations and Business Partnering, giving you the foundation to develop into a future People Business Partner?
At APEM we provide independent environmental consultancy and expert scientific advice to a wide range of industries including water, renewables, infrastructure, and the energy sector. We're growing across the UK and Ireland and are looking for a People Advisor to join our People team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in HR who is ready to broaden their experience and develop towards a Business Partnering career over the coming years.
You will become a trusted first point of contact for managers, providing practical advice and helping them navigate everyday people matters with confidence. You'll support a wide range of employee relations cases, whilst developing your knowledge and judgement through exposure to increasingly varied and complex situations.
You'll also play a key role in helping us become a more data-driven People function. Working with our HR systems, you'll produce meaningful people data and insights, helping identify trends and supporting better decision making across the business. If you enjoy technology and are curious about how systems and AI can improve the employee experience, you'll have plenty of opportunities to contribute.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
